Last updated: DATE TO CONFIRM — set this when the page goes live
This explains what happens to your information when you use Future Self Now. It is deliberately short, because not very much happens to it.
Future Self Now is run by LEGAL NAME TO CONFIRM — Theresa Sansome trading as Future Self Now, or the registered company name and number, of ADDRESS TO CONFIRM. You can reach us at CONTACT EMAIL TO CONFIRM.
We are the data controller for the information described here. Because we are based in the United Kingdom, UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply.
What we collect, and why
If you only read this page
Nothing that identifies you. This page carries no advertising, no social media pixels and no cross-site tracking.
We do measure how many people visit, which pages they read and which links they follow, using Plausible Analytics. Plausible sets no cookies, stores its data in the European Union, and does not collect anything that identifies a person or follow anyone between websites. There is nothing to opt out of and no cookie banner to dismiss, which is rather the point of using it.
If you meet your Future Self, or join the community
To give you a free account we need your name and email address. That account lives in Circle, the platform the community runs on.
Once you have an account, Circle holds what you put into it: anything you post, your replies and comments, your profile, which lessons you have worked through, and whether you have opened our emails. If you write to Theresa about your visualisation, she reads it and replies personally, and that correspondence sits in her inbox like any other email.
We use all of this to run the community, to send you the things you have asked for, and to answer you.
If you pay for something
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us — we see only that a payment succeeded, what it was for, and the information we need to keep proper records. Stripe holds the rest.
If you book a conversation
Bookings go through Acuity Scheduling, and the conversations themselves usually happen on Zoom. Each holds what you give it when you book.
Marketing
We will only send you marketing email if you have asked for it, by ticking the box that says so. That is separate from the emails we have to send you about something you have signed up for or bought. You can unsubscribe from marketing at any time, from any marketing email, and it takes effect immediately.
Cookies
The landing page sets no cookies of its own, and the analytics are cookieless.
The community at futureselfnow.com does set cookies, because it has to: it needs to know you are signed in. Those are strictly necessary for the service to work. Blocking them means you cannot sign in.
Who else sees it
Our processors, each handling only what it needs to do its job: Circle (the community platform and its email), Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (serving this page), Plausible (analytics, which sees no personal data), Acuity Scheduling (bookings) and Zoom (sessions).
Some of these are based outside the UK, so your information may be processed abroad. Where it is, that transfer relies on the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or on the UK extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Beyond that, we will only disclose it where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Your account and what is in it stay with us for as long as you have an account, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back.
Financial records are kept for RETENTION PERIOD TO CONFIRM — six years is the usual answer for UK tax records, because we have to.
Session notes, written accounts and recordings from one-to-one work are kept so that you can come back to them, which people often do years later. Ask and we will delete them.
Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold, to correct it, to delete it, to stop using it in a particular way, or to send it to you in a portable form. You can object to us using it on the basis of our legitimate interests. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it.
Write to CONTACT EMAIL TO CONFIRM and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.
If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first, but it is your right either way.
Children
Future Self Now is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18. If you think we have, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change anything here that matters, we will say so on this page and, where it affects you directly, by email.
